The eighth final in the Kreispokal Essen is played. At FSV Kettwig, ESC Rellinghausen moved into the next round on Tuesday evening.
The field of participants for the quarterfinals in the Essen district cup is fixed. The ESC Rellinghausen solved on Wednesday evening the remaining ticket for the next round.
Against FSV Kettwig, which plays two classes lower, the Landesligist prevailed clearly with 4:0. Edisher Ugrekhelidze shot Rellinghausen in the Ruhr Valley in the lead (16.), Felix Merken increased to 2-0 lead at half time. Shortly after the restart, Ugrekhelidze scored for the second time (47.). The final point was set by Dominik Huxholt in the final phase (83rd).
While Kettwig can now fully concentrate on the fight to stay in the Kreisliga A – currently FSV is just above the relegation places and will meet leaders SF Niederwenigern II this weekend – ESC can continue to dream of the title. The quarterfinals will be played next spring and the opponent has already been determined: It will be against the Landesliga rival SG Schönebeck.
FC Kray and Blau-Weiß Mintard will play another Landesliga duel. In addition, the district league teams Vogelheimer SV and DJK Sportfreunde Katernberg will meet the state league teams VfB Frohnhausen and SpVgg Steele.
For Rellinghausen, the Landesliga continues. A tough task awaits coach Sascha Behnke’s team on Sunday (October 29, 3 p.m.) when it plays host to leaders SF Niederwenigern.
