Forecasting spoke to André Helf, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Rot-Weiss Essen, after the turbulent days.
In the first part of the interview with Forecasting, RWE supervisory board chairman André Helf commented on the departure of Marcus Uhlig and Sascha Peljhan as well as the choice for Uhlig’s successor Marc-Nicolai Pfeifer.
In the second part, Helf talks about …
… the club’s financial situation: “We have all learned the right lessons from last year and laid a good foundation for the upswing. As a club, we went through 2023 together, which was certainly a difficult year in every respect, but in the end we were able to close it with a positive financial result. We are still on the right track.
As CFO, Sascha Peljhan has turned the whole thing around and organized everything as it should be. We are up to date and check all the figures regularly – we are always up to date. Nothing can really surprise us now. Sascha has had an incredibly intensive time getting all the controlling back on track. “
.. the possible promotion to Bundesliga 2 and potential problems: “I keep hearing and reading that. But I can only smile and ask: what problems? We already feel like a second division team. Of course, we would have to upgrade our association work and security. But otherwise? I only see advantages. And, yes, we wouldn’t be opposed to participating in the Bundesliga 2 if we were successful on the pitch. We have submitted the licenses for both League 3 and League 2. “
.. the possible third division budget for 2024/25 – according to RS information, this is currently €5.5 million for the professional team and is to be increased by around €1 million: “I don’t want to confirm or deny the figure. But I can reveal that we are always working on finding new resources to strengthen the sporting area. “
