Looking at Westfalia Dortmund’s squad, it would come as no surprise if the Kreisliga A is only a stopover in the coming season.
Westfalia Dortmund dominate the Kreisliga B1 Dortmund at will. Their passage to Kreisliga A has been assured since the winter, and the club, which was founded in 2022, is preparing accordingly for the new division.
During the winter break, Ricardo Seifried, Justin Neiss (both TuS Bövinghausen), Steven Josifov (SpVgg Horsthausen), Darius Stawski (who trained at VfL Bochum and Borussia Dortmund), striker Alan Michna (most recently player-coach at FC Frohlinde in the Bezirksliga), 24-year-old Yunus Emre Cakir (75-time Oberliga player, who comes from TSG Sprockhövel) and Alessio Argenziano (Hombrucher SV / Westfalenliga II) have already presented seven new additions in anticipation of the 2024/25 season.
And now the club has added the icing to the cake for the time being. The Dortmund side have announced that a 16-time third division player (BVB II and VfL Osnabrück) will be joining Westfalia. The 27-year-old central defender Mohamed El Bouazzati is moving to the Kreisliga club.
El Bouazzati played for Borussia Dortmund’s youth team from 2006 to 2014. He has also played for Borussia Dortmund II, VfL Osnabrück, Zorya Lugansk, Wattenscheid 09, Rot Weiss Ahlen and SV Lippstadt.
“We are delighted that Momo has found his way back to us. For me, Momo is one of the best central defenders there is in Dortmund. The combination with Emre Cakir is at least ready for the top division,” emphasized Westfalia’s sporting director Kevin Temme.
Another defensive building block, given that the defensive unit is already working. After 19 games, they have only conceded four goals. Most recently there was a 15:0 victory at Westfalia Kirchlinde.
For Westfalia Dortmund, this means that the home match against RW Barop II on April 21 could be the perfect day to make the breakthrough
