Rot-Weiß Oberhausen won 3-1 (0-1) against SC Wiedenbrück on matchday 12 of the Regionalliga West, securing their fourth home win in a row.
The Niederrhein Stadium has once again become a real fortress. Rot-Weiß Oberhausen suffered their last defeat on home turf on matchday 3, losing 0:2 to MSV Duisburg. On matchday 12 of the Regionalliga West, RWO won 3:1 (0:1) against SC Wiedenbrück, securing their fourth home win in a row.
Kerem Yalcin (46th minute), Timur Kesim (50th minute), and Tarsis Bonga were the goal scorers against Wiedenbrück. Jan Lukas Liehr (11th minute) had previously put the visitors ahead. RWO coach Sebastian Gunkel was happy with his team’s well-deserved three points.
“To be honest, we expected Wiedenbrück to be a little different. In the first 15 to 20 minutes, we had problems finding space and conceded an early goal, which was well finished. But we did well after that and played well in the space. Even though we weren’t precise enough in the final third, we had one or two really good chances and could have gone into the break with a draw,” Gunkel summed up.
After the break, Oberhausen came back onto the pitch full of energy. Within six minutes, the “Kleeblätter” scored three goals and finally turned the game in their favor. “What happened in the first few minutes of the second half is something you don’t see very often,” Gunkel revealed. “Overall, we’re quite satisfied.”

The visitors from Wiedenbrück remain in the relegation zone after the defeat. Interim coach Tobias Brockschnieder’s team is in 16th place in the table with eight points.
“We got off to a good start and stuck to our plan in the opening minutes. There’s no question that you’re going to concede chances in Oberhausen. We scored from a situation we had practiced all week in training and were prepared for. After half-time, six minutes were enough for three goals, and after that, you have to be honest and say that our heads went down. We lost our shape and, apart from one long-range shot, we didn’t have any more chances. Oberhausen clearly deserved to win the game.”
