Following his scandalous behaviour at an ice hockey game, Felix Weber, SpVgg Bayreuth’s head of defence, has apologised for his performance and been pardoned.
At the end of March, RevierSport had reported that Felix Weber had been suspended following his misconduct during the ice hockey playdown game between the Bayreuth Tigers and the Eispiraten Crimmitschau.
The suspension has now been lifted. The 28-year-old SpVgg Bayreuth defender, who allegedly got rowdy with around 3.0 per mille during the said ice hockey outing, has now apologised for his misconduct.
In addition to apologising to the two clubs, the defender has decided to donate a sum of 2,500 euros to each of the clubs. The money is to go towards active fan work. This was reported by the third division football club from Franconia.
In addition, Weber will seek therapeutic treatment of his own accord and with the support of the club in order to come to terms with the circumstances that led to his behaviour.
“First of all, I would like to apologise to everyone involved for my behaviour. I have put my club and ultimately the city in a bad light with my behaviour. To see oneself in such a state after the event is shameful and no one needs the kind of reporting I received. Ultimately, my behaviour caused unrest at a time when we all wanted to concentrate only on sporting matters. I cannot undo what has happened, but I will draw my conclusions and consequences from it. Even if it is only a gesture, it was important to me to give a little financial support to the clubs. Because I am not only a footballer, I am also an ice hockey fan,” explained Weber, who is the nominal head of defence and also a leading player in coach Thomas Kleine’s team.
The club has decided to integrate Weber back into team training.
This means that head coach Thomas Kleine can welcome his top performer in the centre of defence back into training: “Felix is highly regarded in the team. Moreover, his sporting importance for us is beyond question. Nevertheless, his behaviour at this stage of the season did not meet with much understanding, which is why it was absolutely right to draw the consequences. Now it’s up to him to take the second chance and turn the switch to professional football. “
