There was no big question time at the Rot-Weiss Essen general meeting. Instead, a new topic came to the fore – one that could have been avoided.
Even during the international break, there is a lot to discuss at Rot-Weiss Essen. First, after the small breakthrough in the 3rd division with the 2-1 win against Viktoria Cologne, there was the next sporting success.
RWE beat Oberliga club VfB Hilden 2-0 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Lower Rhine Cup. RWE coach Christoph Dabrowski was not really satisfied with the performance, at the end of which there were unfortunately riots between Essen and Düsseldorf.
The general meeting took place the day after the cup game. On the one hand, RWE presented very respectable figures, and the outlook presented by the two Essen board members Marc-Nicolai Pfeifer and Alexander Rang also suggests that RWE is on the right track.
But there were also the barbs from the current supervisory board in the direction of the old board around Marcus Uhlig and Sascha Peljhan. Essen’s supervisory board chairman Lothar Oelert hinted that Peljhan had tried to push through or reject certain people in the club with the help of his sponsorships.
He also announced that Peljhan had granted former boss Marcus Uhlig a salary advance of around 15,000 euros. This has since been repaid, but may not be compatible with the statutes, according to Oelert.
In the new episode of our talk show “vonne Hafenstraße – Inside RWE”, we talk to presenter Katrin Böcker, RWE reporter Martin Herms and Forecasting editor Christian Brausch about the sporting situation, the attacks by the supervisory board and the outcome of the general meeting.
