Rot-Weiß Oberhausen will host promoted team 1. FC Bocholt on Friday (19.30, RevierSport-Liveticker). The RWO sports director warns against the guest from the Hünting.
25 points after 16 games, makes eighth place for Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. But the sporting director is not dissatisfied with the results. Because the form curve is pointing upwards again, as Patrick Bauder reports.
“The results of the last few weeks were not what we expected. We conceded goals too easily. But the performances were still right. The 1-0 win against Wiedenbrück was immensely important. We are on the right track,” Bauder emphasised.
Against Bocholt, in Aachen, against Mönchengladbach II, in Straelen: That is the Oberhausen team’s final programme for the 2022 calendar year. They are currently seven points off first place, with leaders Preußen Münster still having the catch-up game against FC Schalke 04’s second team up their sleeve.
“I keep repeating it: the table is so close. So much can still happen. We stick to our motto that we want to win every game. Even the four games before the break. Whether we succeed or not is another matter. Right now, we’re just concentrating on Bocholt,” says Bauder.
The 32-year-old warns against the promoted team. The match, which has been moved to the Niederrhein stadium, will once again point the way ahead for RWO. With a win behind them, they would head to Aachen a week later for a kind of top match.
Bauder: “Aachen is still far away. Bocholt are an experienced, dangerous team. And Marcel Platzek is also back. With him, the Bocholt team is even stronger. In any case, we are well prepared and want to win the next home match after the victory over Wiedenbrück.”
With the exception of Sebastian Mai, RWO coach Mike Terranova can draw from a full complement against Bocholt.
