Before Dynamo’s home game – Horn’s 8-1 memory of Dresden

Timo Horn is a constant at VfL Bochum. The 32-year-old hopes that VfL will also be “carried by the fans” against Dresden.

Timo Horn has played 214 Bundesliga games to date. He has also made 110 appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga. The 32-year-old has therefore already experienced a lot. Promotion, relegation, but when you talk to the goalkeeper, who will be playing at home with VfL Bochum (6:30 p.m.) against Dynamo Dresden on Friday, it’s clear what immediately comes to mind.

Namely, November 10, 2018. On that day, everything went right for him and FC Köln. The final score was 8-1 against Dynamo Dresden after 90 minutes. Dream goals, goalkeeper errors, a hat trick from Simon Terodde. Everything was there. “That was fun, but those were different times, it just happened that way in the game.”

At the end of the season, Cologne was promoted, and the VfL keeper would like to repeat that with VfL Bochum. But before Bochum can look up, they need to extend their streak after a poor start to the season.

They have gone four games without defeat. They are looking to secure their third league win in a row against the newly promoted team from Dresden, who have only won one game so far. Horn emphasized on Wednesday with regard to the latest results: “We’re happy to take that with us. Especially after a long time without playing. So, of course, I’m happy that I can repay the club’s trust in me. But I also know, having been around long enough, that things can change quickly. So I’m just trying to stay focused, perform well, and enjoy the moment.”

Especially since Bochum knows that, despite the recent results, there were phases in Braunschweig and at home against Magdeburg where the opponent was on the offensive and VfL also needed a little luck.

Horn looks ahead: “Dresden has a team that plays aggressively against the ball. We can expect a lot of challenges. We’ve performed very well in our own stadium recently and sparked a certain euphoria. When the fans carry us at home, anything is possible.”

He added: “It was also very intense against Magdeburg, and Braunschweig were physically superior to us before the break. We responded well after the break and kept a clean sheet. That’s what sets us apart right now. We have to carry that euphoria with us.” cb / gp
