In the first second division away match of the year, Schalke 04 fans put on a big choreography. The focus is on ponchos in blue and white.

The Schalke 04 fans came up with something special for the second division away match at 1. FC Kaiserslautern.

They had the guest block in the venerable Fritz Walter Stadium completely decked out in blue and white. The fans donned blue and white ponchos before kick-off. The block was reminiscent of a giant flag in Schalke’s club colors.

Despite the rather thankless kick-off time for visiting fans on Friday evening at 6.30 pm at Betzenberg, an estimated 10,000 Schalke fans found their way to Kaiserslautern. The journey was made even more difficult by highway closures and the Deutsche Bahn strike.

Just in time for kick-off, the Schalke fans presented a gigantic pennant with the inscription “Blue and white, how I love you”
