Regionalliga team Alemannia Aachen opens 2023 against Fortuna Düsseldorf II. An offensive player is absent due to injury.
On Friday evening (27 January, 7.30 pm), Alemannia Aachen will face Fortuna Düsseldorf’s U23 under floodlights. With a win, the Kaiserstadt side could catch up on second-placed Borussia Mönchengladbach II in terms of points and confirm their statistics as the best home team in the league.
Felix Heim will not be part of this mission. The 21-year-old is out with a torn muscle fibre. Alemannia confirmed this on the club’s own homepage. “With the grade 1 fibre tear in his right thigh, Heim will, however, be able to return to training after about one to two weeks. Alemannia wishes him a speedy recovery,” the club’s statement read.
The winger suffered the injury during the test match in the training camp against Radomiak Radom (2:1).
Only one minute after his substitution, Heim had to be replaced by Dmitry Imbongo. In addition to the opening duel against Düsseldorf II, the 1.78-metre man will also miss the top match at league leaders Preußen Münster (05 February, 2pm). If his recovery goes well, Heim could be an option again for the home match against Wuppertaler SV (11 February, 2pm).
At the Tivoli, however, the 21-year-old is not a regular and has been substituted ten times from eleven appearances. However, with his strong assist in the 1:0 home win against SV Lippstadt, Heim played his part in Aachen establishing themselves in the top flight. The right-winger only moved to the Kaiserstadt in the summer from Rot-Weiss Essen, a team promoted to the Third League.
Felix Heim was considered a great talent when he moved from the Regionalliga Südwest to RWE in 2021. However, he failed to make his breakthrough at Hafenstraße and only made ten league appearances.
