Before RWE derby – BVB shock in injury time.

On Wednesday, the second part of Matchday 3 of the 3. league was on the agenda. BVB II had to cope with a late shock before the RWE derby.

The third matchday is over in the 3. Liga. And after 1860 München also won its third match on Tuesday, FC Ingolstadt also kept its clean slate with a 1:0 away win at VfL Osnabrück. Waldhof Mannheim, with ex-RWE coach Christian Neidhart, is also in the mix at the top, the Mannheim side scoring late to beat Erzgebirge Aue 1-0 and climbing to third place.

At the bottom of the table, however, several teams continue to struggle to get going this season. Rot-Weiss Essen lost to Viktoria Köln 1:4 and have only one point. Hallesche FC and SpVgg Bayreuth (1:4 at SV Wehen) have no points at all. SC Verl (0:2 in Dresden) and VfB Oldenburg have not yet been able to record a three-point win either and each have one point on the credit side.

Just like BVB’s U23. They held their own for a long time against promotion aspirants 1. FC Saarbrücken – until the shock came in the 93rd minute. Substitute Adriano Grimaldi scored the late 1:0 for Saarbrücken. This was the third win in three games for the FCS. Like RWE, BVB could not tank up on self-confidence before the derby, which kicks off on Saturday (2 p.m.) at Signal-Iduna-Park.

Almost 5,000 fans are expected from Essen to push their team to its first victory. But BVB would also like to forget their first home game, when they lost 4-0 against FC Ingolstadt.
