Prior to the test match between Oberliga team SpVg Schonnebeck and third-league team Rot-Weiss Essen, the Spielvereinigung is calling for solidarity between the two clubs.
Next Saturday, SpVg Schonnebeck from the Oberliga Westfalen will meet third-league side Rot-Weiss Essen for a preparation match. The Spielvereinigung is in the middle of preparations for the coming season. RWE, on the other hand, is already in league action. However, RWE was beaten 1:5 by fellow promoted team SV Elversberg at the start of the 3rd division.
Although Schonnebeck lost the last test match against ASC 09 Dortmund by a narrow 1:2, the Swallows were aggressive and combative during the match against Dortmund and thus whetted the appetite for more. Especially in the second half of the match, things got heated up.
Essen sticks together
Meanwhile, ahead of the upcoming test match between the two clubs, the premier league club called for solidarity between the two teams and throughout the city of Essen. The Schwalben from Schonnebeck stand behind the city’s biggest club despite losing their opener.
“We are hereby launching an appeal in the spirit of Essen football, not only to support our Schwalben, but also to show our friends from Rot-Weiss Essen that the city and especially the fans of the red-and-whites will take their team on the road, that they are behind their team despite the result on matchday 1 and prepare the test match to be a positive event for both clubs and teams, from which all involved will take the best emotions for a successful season,” the club announced on its website.
The match will be played next Saturday at the Bäuminghausstraße in Altenessen. The game will kick off at 2 pm. Interested fans can purchase tickets via the Spielvereinigung’s online shop. In addition, a box office will be open on the day of the match itself at the entrance via Hövelstraße.
