On Saturday – March 23, 2024, 2 p.m. – Rot Weiss Ahlen will host FC Wegberg-Beeck in the basement duel. The sporting director promises a win.
Four defeats, two draws: Rot Weiss Ahlen’s recent record doesn’t read well at all. Now, on Saturday (March 23, 2 p.m.), Ahlen will face FC Wegberg-Beeck in a basement duel. RWA are four points behind Beeck ahead of this immensely important match.
According to RWA sporting director Orhan Özkara, the gap will narrow. He was combative ahead of the game, telling Forecasting: “This is already a very important match and absolutely crucial. We still have a score to settle with Beeck from the first leg. We’re taking the game very seriously, are well prepared and will decide the game in our favor in the end.”
In the first leg in August, FC Wegberg-Beeck won 2:1 against the Red & Whites. Ömer Uzun (57′) had put the team, then still under former coach Daniel Berlinski, in front, but Marc Kleefisch scored a brace to give the club from the Heinsberg district a home win.
The promoted team from the Mittelrheinliga is currently 15th in the table with 25 points after 25 match days, four points more than Ahlen. Interim coach Mike Schmalenberg’s team have won two of their last five matches.
Good for Ahlen: FC Wegberg-Beeck have only managed a single win from a total of 13 away matches. “We know that this is a good team. Nobody is easy to beat in this league. We must and will be fully committed. We want to stay in this league and that’s primarily about the home games. We can always rely on our fans at the Wersestadion and we want to give them a win on Saturday. Together with the spectators behind us, our team will do everything on the pitch to win,” promised Ahlen manager Özkara.
Another interesting fact: Ahlen are the worst home team in the Regionalliga West and face Wegberg-Beeck, the worst away team
