For MSV Duisburg, who are in the midst of a crisis, the next match is against Halle on Saturday after a winless streak, including a defeat in the Niederrheinpokal. Eight players are out.
MSV Duisburg is experiencing its first sporting crisis of the current season. At the latest after the 1:2 cup exit in the 2nd round of the Niederrheinpokal at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, one can speak of a crisis.
“It is an opportunity for a possible turnaround. We want to initiate that. It’s a huge chance for us to build up a positive feeling before the next championship game against Halle,” MSV coach Torsten Ziegner emphasised before the RWO game. After the lost match, he then found clear words. Ziegner ranted: “When you play for MSV, you have a certain responsibility. That is clearly not enough for me. I will talk to the team in depth over the next few days. The fact that I have the feeling that not everyone is prepared to invest everything – that won’t happen with me.”
The only problem is ahead of the next third-division home game, with Hallesche FC coming to Duisburg, Ziegner doesn’t have much choice at all when it comes to personnel. “Vincent Müller is fit after his bruise, but there are still question marks behind the deployments of Sebastian Mai and Moritz Stoppelkamp,” Martin Haltermann, MSV press officer, told RevierSport.
This means that in addition to the long-term injured Leroy Kwadwo (hip injury), Rolf Feltscher (torn inner ligament), Caspar Jander (torn ligament), Alaa Bakir (torn meniscus) and Benjamin Girth (shoulder injury), Marvin Senger (yellow-red suspension), Vincent Gembalies (knee problems) and Marvin Knoll (rehabilitation training) will definitely miss the match against Halle.
The return of captain Stoppelkamp, who is struggling with muscular problems and already had to miss the match against Oberhausen, would be especially important. Without their director, MSV have a hard time creating chances and scoring goals. After five games without a win, coach Ziegner and his charges should turn things around against his former club Halle, otherwise things could get uncomfortable for everyone involved in Duisburg-Meiderich.
