The next Rot-Weiss Essen player has found a new club. This time it’s Ron Berlinski.
Felix Götze is moving to SC Paderborn in the 2nd division, Vinko Sapina (Dynamo Dresden) is staying in the 3rd division, the same applies to Sascha Voelcke (Waldhof Mannheim), Marvin Obuz is returning to 1. FC Köln and will play in the 2nd division. Those were the RWE departures so far, including their new clubs.
Ron Berlinski has now joined them. The attacker will return to the regional league. Namely to Kickers Offenbach in the south-west division. Forcasting had reported OFC’s interest in Berlinski, and on Monday (June 17), the club of former RWE coach Christian Neidhart made it perfect.
Offenbach prevailed over clubs such as 1. FC Bocholt, SC Verl, Hallescher FC and TSV Steinbach Haiger in the bidding for Berlinski.
“I’m a fan of the idea of how Christian Neidhart plays soccer. I am a worker on the pitch, a team player. I am convinced of OFC’s project, a traditional club that plays in the wrong league, and I will give everything to create something big together with the club, that motivates me a lot,” explains the 29-year-old attacker.
Berlinski brings plenty of third division experience with him to Offenbach, having scored 19 goals and provided eight assists in 93 games in the 3rd division. The attacker, who trained at VfL Bochum, made the leap into the professional ranks via Wattenscheid 09, DSC Wanne-Eickel, TuS Hordel and RSV Meinerzhagen to third-division club SC Verl. There he scored eleven goals in 28 games in the 3rd division and in the cup.
The center forward played the past two years at Rot-Weiss Essen and won the national cup with Essen in both seasons, becoming the competition’s top scorer in 2022/23 with six goals.
“In Ron, we are gaining an absolute mentality player who has always been a crowd favorite at his previous clubs due to his way of playing and working soccer. We are naturally delighted that we have been able to win Ron over and hope that he will bring the mentality and accuracy he has demonstrated in recent years to the pitch,” said Christian Hock, OFC manager.
