Bielefeld and Fürth lose at the start – Regensburg in front

Arminia Bielefeld and SpVgg Greuther Fürth are winless in the 2. Bundesliga at the start of their mission to return to the top flight

Arminia Bielelfeld lost 1:2 (0:1) at SV Sandhausen at the start of the second division, Greuther Fürth only managed a 2:2 (0:1) at Holstein Kiel despite taking the lead. FC St. Pauli defeated 1. FC Nürnberg 3:2 (3:0), Jahn Regensburg is in the lead after a 2:0 (1:0) against Darmstadt 98.

At Sandhausen, Bielefeld’s new coach Uli Forte had a forgettable debut. 63 days after relegation from the Bundesliga, Arminia lost thanks to a brace from Sandhausen’s newcomer David Kinsombi (11./63.), the intermediate equaliser by Masaya Okugawa (59.) was too little. To make matters worse, debutant Forte was sent to the stands after receiving a red card (45th), and Bielefeld’s newcomer Silvan Sidler was shown a yellow card a little later (47th).

Relegated Fürth at least showed good qualities: The cloverleaf even took the lead after Timo Becker’s 29th goal, thanks to Julian Green’s 48th and Timothy Tillman’s 76th. However, it was not enough for victory as Alexander Mühling converted a penalty kick in the 81st minute.

Ex-Duisburg Daschner scores for St. Pauli

St. Pauli, meanwhile, missed the opportunity to take the lead in the table for at least one night. After goals from Jackson Irvine (24th), captain Lear Paqarada via penalty kick (37th) and only 133 seconds later Lukas Daschner (39th) everything seemed clear at the break. Nuremberg’s newcomer Kwadwo Duah (46th) and Enrico Valentini (90.+2) scored for the visitors in front of 28,582 spectators in the almost sold-out Millerntor Stadium.

In Regensburg, a lightning goal by Joshua Mees after 17.4 seconds paved the way for the home win against Darmstadt and the leap to the top of the table. Prince Osei Owusu had played the ball into the right-wing position, and Mees then headed in Nicklas Shipnoski’s cross free. Darmstadt’s Patric Pfeiffer was shown a yellow card for repeated foul play in the 37th minute and Andreas Albers (67th) increased the lead to 2:0.
