Bitter news – two defenders out for the time being

Defensive worries at VfL Bochum: As the club has confirmed, two defenders are out for the time being.

Dieter Hecking will have to do without Philipp Strompf and Kacper Koscierski for the time being. Strompf had to leave the field in the first half of VfL Bochum’s 0-1 defeat to FC Schalke 04. It is now clear that the new signing from SSV Ulm 1846 has suffered a structural muscle injury.

Mats Pannewig came on for him at Schalke. “It’s always bad for the defense when someone goes off so early. It’s doubly bitter for him too. The other guys did an excellent job. We were stable for a long time and deserved at least one point,“ said VfL goalkeeper Timo Horn immediately after the 1-2 defeat on Sky. ”It’s very bitter that we’re now going home as losers.“

However, he expressed confidence for the coming weeks and months. ”If we continue to play like this, we’ll pick up a few more points. We can’t afford to give up a single point. I think that, despite the defeat, we can play a very good role in the second division.”

Koscierski, on the other hand, was injured while playing for Bochum’s U19 team. In the 2-3 defeat to Borussia Dortmund, the right-back was fouled and fell on his shoulder, resulting in a sprain.

Points Table

Strompf and Koscierski join the long list of injuries currently plaguing VfL Bochum. Erhan Masovic (collapsed lung), Ibrahima Sissoko (dislocated shoulder), Matus Bero (bruised pelvis), Moritz-Broni Kwarteng (ligament problems), and Koji Miyoshi (syndesmotic ligament strain) are also currently sidelined. On Saturday, August 30, at 1 p.m., VfL Bochum has a special home game coming up. They will face SC Preußen Münster. Parts of both fan bases have a friendship that is sure to be celebrated extensively on this fourth match day of the second division. Preußen recently won 2-1 against 1. FC Nürnberg.
