Blau-Gelb Überruhr got off to a good start in the Bezirksliga Niederrhein 7. Co-favourites SV Burgaltendorf were beaten 6:1.
On the first matchday of the Bezirksliga Niederrhein 7, Blau-Gelb Überruhr set an exclamation mark with a 6:1 victory over SV Burgaltendorf. Coach Murat Aksoy was satisfied with his team’s performance: “We knew how Burgaltendorf would play. I had prepared the boys for that. With our newcomers, we have so much experience in the team that the points from the opponent analysis are also implemented. The boys know how to direct the opponent.”
In the early stages, the game was initially even. “At first Burgaltendorf had a bit more possession, but we stood stable and allowed little. Then we didn’t get a clear penalty, but it was very difficult for the referee to see without a linesman,” recalls Aksoy.
Disputed situation decides game early
However, midway through the first half, the blue and yellow managed to score first with a header and then twice down the left to build a comfortable lead. “The phase up to 3-0 was simply very strong from us, but also a shock moment for Burgaltendorf. But then we concede the goal because we were not attentive,” the BG coach was annoyed after the game.
Shortly before the break, a controversial situation arose. After a Burgaltendorf corner, goalkeeper Leon Ossmann just managed to scrape the ball off the line, but the home team had seen the ball in the goal. “It is very difficult to see, the ball has to be completely behind the line. No outsider could see with the naked eye if it was a goal. If you’re unlucky, the goal is given and it’s 3:2. Then it could have been a completely different game. “
The atmosphere we had on the bench, how everyone was happy, makes me really proud as a coach. All the players did a really great job and we have to keep it up.

But after the change of ends, Überruhr didn’t let anything go and in the end was able to win the game clearly. “In the second half, Burgaltendorf had no scoring chances at all. They looked flat and disoriented. We were stable at the back again and played it very well on the offensive,” said Aksoy, praising his team’s performance.
The BG coach’s expectations were exceeded on the first day of the match: “We knew that Burgaltendorf was a co-favourite, but we wanted to start the season with a win and we managed that. The fact that we ended up with such a big win is something we are happy to accept. We are not the absolute top favourites because we won a game by a large margin. But if we continue to work with concentration, we are on a very good path.”
The coach also has special praise for the reserve players: “The atmosphere we had on the bench, how everyone was happy, makes me really proud as a coach. All the players did a really great job and we need to keep that going.”
