Bocholt has two new stadium announcers, Wuppertal is looking for a Kulawik successor

Wuppertaler SV is looking for a new stadium announcer. Meanwhile, 1. FC Bocholt has introduced a stadium announcer duo.

When Wuppertaler SV welcome SC Wiedenbrück to the Velbert Arena on Friday evening (22 September, 7.30 pm), it will be a farewell game for Carsten Kulawik: a last time as WSV stadium announcer.

The 31-year-old full-time journalist is moving to Berlin for professional reasons and will take on a new job there from 1 October 2023. “Unfortunately, it will not be possible to remain stadium announcer at WSV because of this. After eleven exciting, intense and special years, an unforgettable time is coming to an end,” shared via Instagram. A successor to Kulawik is still being sought.

One of Wuppertal’s league rivals is already further along. 1st FC Bocholt has a new stadium announcer duo. After veteran Martin Rudde stepped down after 18 years of service, Alexander Wiltink and Bernd Weigel will lead the team through the games starting with the home match against SV Lippstadt (Saturday, 23 September, 2 p.m.).

“We would prefer to always be together in the stadium. However, should one of us not be able to be present on match day for professional or private reasons, it is always ensured that a stadium announcer is on site,” emphasises the new Bocholt stadium announcer duo.

Wiltink was born in Bocholt, is a POS manager in sales management and has been working in the event and catering industry in the region since 1995 – whether as a DJ, presenter or technician. Weigel is a DJ by profession and has been a “Schwatter” since the early seventies; both as a youth player and as a fan, he has worn the FC jersey for four decades.

Christopher Schorch, Managing Director Sport and Organisation: “Alex and Bernd are ‘Schwatte’ through and through. Both already have a stable reputation with us, and they are not unknown to the fans. That’s why we are very happy to have convinced them of the permanent task in good, trusting talks. We are sure that the two of them will complement each other perfectly and offer our fans a professional and passionate presentation at our home matches.
