“Bosnian Apache” – that’s how fans are reacting to the new defensive boss

Nikola Katic is set to strengthen FC Schalke 04’s defense. The Bosnian made a big impression on fans with his first appearance.

At 9:30 in the morning, the thermometer in Gelsenkirchen was already showing almost 30 degrees Celsius. Nikola Katic was therefore able to show up for his appointments in Gelsenkirchen on Tuesday in summer attire. The Bosnian’s schedule: medical check-up at the Medicos health center, then on to the FC Schalke 04 office, where he is set to sign a three-year contract later in the day.

When he arrived at the hospital with Schalke’s integration officer Joe Miraglia, Katic wore a white shirt casually tucked into beige chinos and stylish sunglasses. It was a rather extravagant appearance, which some Schalke fans couldn’t resist commenting on.

Two fashion icons in particular came to mind when fans saw the picture of Katic’s arrival: “Bosnian Apache,” wrote one user on the news service X, referring to the German rapper Apache 207, whose trademarks also include aviator sunglasses and tight-fitting pants. Another user emphasized the visual differences despite the obvious similarities: “Apache207 without the braid and beard.”

“Looks like he could be salting a steak,” wrote another user – a reference to the world-famous restaurateur Salt Bae, who became famous for his gold steak, which former Bayern Munich pro Franck Ribéry once had served to him in a media-friendly manner. The Turkish influencer with his unmistakable salting pose also comes very close to Katic’s appearance with his standard outfit.

For one user, Katic could be “the villain from an action movie,” another sees the Bosnian center back as a “Gucci model,” and yet another attests to his appearance having “1904% aura.” Schalke’s new signing has already made a big impression with his arrival. Whether he will also succeed on the pitch remains to be seen.
