The 6th matchday in the Oberliga Westfalen is in the starting blocks. TuS Bövinghausen and Westfalia Rhynern are engaged in a long-distance duel for the top of the table.
Match action in the Oberliga Westfalen is in full swing. On matchday 6, second-placed TuS Bövinghausen and leaders Westfalia Rhynern are fighting a long-distance duel for the top spot in the table. SC Preußen Münster II in third place could also take the lead in the table with a big win and a slip-up by Rhynern next Saturday.
Last Tuesday, the still unbeaten promoted team TuS Bövinghausen suffered a rare defeat in the Westfalenpokal against the regional league promoted team from 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn. Head coach Sebastian Tyrala’s team lost 6:7 on penalties in the second round of the competition.
In the league, however, things are going almost like clockwork for the club around world champion Kevin Großkreutz. The Dortmund team’s only loss of points came last matchday in a 1-1 draw against SC Paderborn II. But their rivals Westfalia Rhynern, who are level on points, are also still unbeaten.
The leaders also lost for the first time on the last matchday. After 90 minutes, the scoreboard showed a 1-1 draw against TuS Erndtebrück. Next Sunday, Westfalia Rhynern will host SpVgg Vreden. After three defeats in a row, the Spielvereinigung are in 15th place in the table with four points. On paper, this is a good opportunity for Westfalia to defend their lead in the standings in a long-distance duel with Bövinghausen and Münster.
ASC can extend series against Gütersloh
ASC 09 Dortmund, under the direction of head coach Antonios Kotziampassis, are apparently back on track after an unsuccessful start to the season and can extend their winning streak of three games in a row on Sunday. Actually, they have won four. In the Westfalen Cup, ASC beat SV Germania Salchendorf 5:0.
The Dortmund striker duo of Maximilian Podehl and Ibrahim Bulut has been in particularly good form recently. In the 2-1 win against SG Finnentrop/Bamenohl last matchday, both attackers scored and already have a total of seven goals for the season.
