Bundesliga club VfL Bochum is finally looking to get its first win of the season. Moritz Broschinski is optimistic despite the external disturbances.
There have been better and quieter times around Castroper Straße in recent years. In the Bundesliga, VfL Bochum are bottom of the table with one point from six games, while in the DFB Cup they lost 1-0 at second-division bottom side SSV Jahn Regensburg. On top of that, there have been recent discussions about some side issues and a possible mole in the team – Forecasting reported.
The past few weeks have also left their mark on the players. “I can remember one or two days that were definitely better. But none of us should judge so much or deal with other things that are happening around the pitch. That’s not the important thing. Such things have no place in public. Everyone should focus on themselves,” Moritz Broschinski told RS.
The center forward celebrated a small personal success during the international break. In the 2-3 friendly defeat to 1. FC Cologne, the 24-year-old scored a spectacular goal to put his side 2-1 in front. In the friendly in Cologne, coach Peter Zeidler changed the system for the first time, fielding his team in a 4-3-3 formation. Until now, the 62-year-old has relied on a midfield diamond with two central strikers.
“The guidelines come from the coach, of course, he decides how we play. Accordingly, every player has to do their job. We talk to each other and try to find solutions so that it doesn’t go on like this. We want to experience more positive days again. If the system helps, then we’re all happy to accept it,” explained Broschinski.
We won’t underestimate any opponent, and the coaching staff will set the example. Hoffenheim is currently going through a tough patch and is not performing up to expectations. They are under pressure and want to perform better than they have so far.

The attacker, who has been under contract in Bochum since January 2023, is still waiting for his first goal in the current Bundesliga season. Last season, he scored twice and set up four goals. Maybe he’ll break his duck as early as Saturday (October 19, 3:30 p.m.) in the away game in Hoffenheim. If they win by two goals, VfL could overtake TSG in the table.
Broschinski looks ahead: “We never underestimate any opponent, and that’s how the coaching team acts as well. But Hoffenheim is also going through a hot phase right now and is not performing up to expectations. They are under pressure and want to perform better than they have done so far.” fn with gp
