But no block exchange – “only” 800 Aachen fans in Gelsenkirchen

Alemannia Aachen will play against the U23 of S04 at Schalke on Sunday. There were long faces in advance: there were only 800 tickets for the supporters of the league leaders.

On Sunday (2:00 p.m., RS liveticker), Alemannia Aachen will face the U23 team of FC Schalke 04. However, far fewer fans than expected will be able to attend in Gelsenkirchen.

While the leaders of the Regionalliga West gained further self-confidence by advancing to the semi-finals of the Mittelrhein Cup on Wednesday evening with a win against Viktoria Cologne, there was also bad news for Alemannia fans.

Contrary to initial plans, there will probably be no block exchange at the Park Stadium on Sunday after all. Alemannia announced this on their club homepage. “As things stand at the moment (February 13, 9:00 a.m.), no further tickets will be made available for guest fans, nor is a block exchange under discussion,” the Aacheners explain.

Guest contingent exhausted – relief train to be deployed

This means that officially not even 1,000 fans from Aachen will be able to attend on Sunday. “The ticket contingent for guest fans was limited to 800 tickets, which are already sold out,” writes the club. A relief train for 600 people will be deployed.

Both Aachen and FC Schalke 04 announced that there will be no box office for Alemannia Aachen fans on Sunday either. “There will be no box office for away fans, only for home fans and neutral visitors,” Aachen communicated. Which, however, means nothing other than that supporters of Alemannia Aachen will have to refrain from wearing fan clothing if they want to watch the game in the area designated for Schalke fans.

However, S04 expresses itself somewhat differently on its homepage: “Tickets for home fans can be obtained at the box office in the Parkstadion. The box office will open at noon.”

No box office for Aachen fans

What is clear, however, is that parking lot A will be reserved for the supporters of the regional league leaders. Schalke fans cannot use the Medicos or Parkallee entrances. They should either park in parking garage 1 or at the service center.

“Aachen supporters will not be able to purchase tickets at the box office at the Parkstadion! Tickets can only be purchased in advance through Alemannia,” warns the S04. It remains to be seen whether this will deter Aachen fans from traveling to Gelsenkirchen. After all, Schalke in particular knows how creative football fans can be, as evidenced by the away game at VfL Bochum last season.
