Football Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund has apparently terminated the contract of former international Nico Schulz in return for a severance payment worth millions.
As reported by Bild and Ruhr Nachrichten, the 30-year-old left-back will receive around 2.5 million euros from the vice-champion, which is slightly less than half of his reported annual salary. His contract ran until 2024.
The twelve-time international had joined BVB from Hoffenheim in 2019 for around 25 million euros and made just 40 Bundesliga appearances in four years – the last in May 2022. Under coach Edin Terzic, the former Hertha and Gladbach player no longer played a role.
In recent weeks, Schulz was released in order to look for a new club. However, this remained without success
