BVB beats Oberliga team, MSV loses 2-0: Here’s how the dress rehearsals went before the start of the season

The new season in the U19 Bundesliga West kicks off this weekend. Here’s how the Revierklubs fared in their last test matches.

The new season in the U19 Bundesliga West is about to start. After the first matchday in the U17 elite division has already been played, the A Juniors will start play next weekend.

And with Borussia Dortmund, the reigning champions of the West division are apparently ready for their opener at Bayer Leverkusen (Sunday, 1 p.m.). In the last test match, BVB celebrated a clear victory against a men’s Oberliga team, winning 4-0 against SG Finnentrop/Bamenohl.

Cole Campbell (30th), top striker Paris Brunner (47th), Kjell-Arik Wätjen (59th) and Ousmane Diallo (86th) scored the goals for the German runners-up. “I really liked the way it went,” coach Mike Tullberg told club media after the success at the end of the preparation. “We’re going into the last week of training with a good feeling and are looking forward to the points match opener in Leverkusen. “

Meanwhile, FC Schalke 04’s dress rehearsal was already a week ago. The Königsblauen also celebrated a 4-0 victory, hosting FC Ingolstadt’s U19s from the south/southwest division.

After goals from Yannick Numbisie (15th), Vitalie Becker (21st) and Max Grüger (22nd), Norbert Elgert’s team took a comfortable 3-0 lead early on, with Jermaine Jann putting the finishing touches on it in the 90th minute. On the first matchday, S04 will host promoted Arminia Bielefeld (Sunday, 11 a.m.).

While Schalke narrowly missed out on participation in the preseason finals, MSV Duisburg turned out to be a surprise team. The Zebras finished in fifth place.

Before the start of the new round against Fortuna Düsseldorf (Sunday, 11 a.m.), however, Duisburg conceded a defeat. Engin Vural’s team lost 2:3 against the North/Northeast representative SV Meppen on Sunday.

David Zogu had scored a brace to give the Meiderich side a 2-0 lead at the break (17th, 44th). However, they gave the game away in the final half-hour and lost 3-2 after conceding goals in the 61st, 75th and 87th minutes.

The series of test matches of VfL Bochum came to a successful end. In a 5-1 win against relegated Rot-Weiss Essen on Sunday, the Bochum side were able to recharge their batteries for the guest game at Alemannia Aachen next Saturday (1 p.m.) under the watchful eye of RWE professional coach Christoph Dabrowski.
