Borussia Dortmund fans welcomed RB Leipzig with more whistles than banners. Mini-choreo of the guests.
When Borussia Dortmund plays in the Bundesliga, you sometimes can’t understand your own words, so loudly do the fans support coach Edin Terzic’s players.
The noise level shot up to record heights on Friday evening in the top match against RB Leipzig when the Saxons had the first possession: a shrill concert of whistles that made your ears hurt. Plus the insulting shouts of “All cops are pigs”. The Leipzigers not only got to hear something, but also to read posters.
A large and some small protest posters of the BVB fans
“Even a title changes nothing – no acceptance for RB”, was written on the longest banner with which the fans in the south stand made clear their rejection of the construct for which RB Leipzig stands.
RB Leipzig won the DFB Cup last season, it was the first title for the controversial club. However, at least in Dortmund, that is not enough to accept the league rival coached by ex-BVB coach Marco Rose as a normal club.
Apart from the whistles, the protests in the stands were limited, as there were more actions in other Bundesliga venues. Smaller posters railed against RB Leipzig in words that were not worth repeating – but the BVB fans quickly concentrated on cheering on their own players.

The Leipzig supporters had also prepared for the top match on Friday evening: They had wrapped their section of the north stand in red and white plastic, along with a banner during the mini-choreography with “0341 – the area code”.
The Dortmund fans were not impressed by this – they have already managed quite different actions in the Signal-Iduna-Park.
