The Champions League groups were drawn on Thursday evening. A tough programme awaits Borussia Dortmund.
Borussia Dortmund will face top-class opponents in the Champions League this year. BVB will face Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan and Newcastle United in the group stage. This was the result of the group draw on Thursday evening.
FC Bayern will face Manchester United, FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray Istanbul in the Champions League group stage. Borussia Dortmund will face Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan and Newcastle United. Newcomer 1. FC Union Berlin will play Real Madrid, SSC Napoli and SC Braga in their premiere in the top flight, while cup winners RB Leipzig will face defending champions Manchester City, Red Star Belgrade and Young Boys Bern.
In Dortmund’s group, French champions Paris with superstar Kylian Mbappé is the toughest opponent. The Man City draw for Leipzig does not seem to be a good omen: last season RB played 1-1 at home against star coach Pep Guardiola’s side in the last 16 and lost 0-7 away with five goals from Erling Haaland. For Union, two of the toughest possible opponents await the Berliners on their debut: the royals from Madrid and the Italian champions Napoli.
The first matches take place on 19/20 September, the group stage ends on 12/13 December. After the turn of the year, the knockout phase continues for 16 teams from 13 February. The final takes place on 1 June at Wembley Stadium in London.
