Losers in the top half were SV Waldhof Mannheim with coach Christian Neidhart. The 0:1 defeat in Ingolstadt means that SVW are already six points behind the top two places. The teams from the top half won in the majority, which also means that there was not much to gain for teams from the basement. After RWE’s 0:1 in Osnabrück on Friday, Bayreuth also went away empty-handed. And since BVB II suffered a bitter 2-1 defeat at home to promoted VfB Oldenburg, RWE remain above the line ahead of Sunday. However, should Aue win the basement duel against Zwickau, Essen would be in the first relegation spot. Verl also have the chance to overtake RWE on Monday (7pm) against SV Meppen.

On Sunday (1 p.m.), MSV Duisburg must play Dynamo Dresden at home. With a win, MSV could jump up to sixth place.
