Borussia Dortmund’s U19s started their Youth League campaign with a defeat against FC Copenhagen.
Borussia Dortmund’s U19s have conceded their first competitive defeat of the current season. At the start of the Youth League, BVB lost 0:2 (0:0) at home against FC Copenhagen.
More than 500 spectators in Brakel on Tuesday afternoon saw BVB keeper Silas Ostrzinski receive a red card for an emergency stop shortly after the start of the second half (51st). He had cleared his opponent shortly before the edge of the penalty area.
In overtime the visitors from Denmark became stronger and stronger and overcame the Dortmund defence twice after the final quarter of the hour. Orri Oskarsson scored the lead for Copenhagen (77.), then Emil Schlichting provided the preliminary decision (83.).
The next task in the Youth League will probably not be easier for BVB. In the coming week, they will travel to Manchester City on Wednesday (14 September, 4 p.m.). The English team won 5:1 against FC Sevilla on the first matchday. Before the clash, Dortmund will play Energie Cottbus in the first round of the DFB Junior A Cup (Sunday, 11 a.m.).
