BVB most popular Bundesliga club for the first time – VfL Bochum ninth

Borussia Dortmund is the most popular Bundesliga club. This was the result of a representative study.

Borussia Dortmund is the most popular club in the Bundesliga for the first time, according to a survey. The survey, which has been conducted for eight years by SLC Management from Nuremberg, shows BVB as the leader among the 18 first division clubs of the past season for the first time.

For the study, the authors took a total of 18 criteria into account, including objective ones such as the number of members and fan clubs as well as the clubs’ reach in TV broadcasts and social media. However, subjective criteria such as image and attractiveness, which were determined by surveying relevant target groups, also played a role in compiling the ranking.

For the first time since the study began, BVB finished ahead of FC Bayern Munich, which came second this time. Borussia Mönchengladbach slipped down one place to take fourth place behind Eintracht Frankfurt. Fifth is 1. FC Köln, which made the biggest jump in absolute points.

The biggest loser in the study, for which around 30,000 people were surveyed across Germany, is Hertha BSC. The Berliners slipped from 8th to 15th place. The biggest improvement in the table was achieved by a West German club, Bayer Leverkusen, which climbed from 17th to 11th place. VfL Bochum, as a promoted team, moved up to ninth place, while Arminia Bielefeld came 16th, leaving FC Augsburg and SpVgg Greuther Fürth behind them.
