Borussia Dortmund has signed two talents for its U19 team. They are early summer transfers, explains BVB coach Mike Tullberg.
Borussia Dortmund’s U19 team has begun preparations for the remaining match days in the A-Junioren Bundesliga. Four matches are still to be played. BVB will not start the rest of the season until 19 February, when they play Rot-Weiß Oberhausen.
So there is still plenty of time for coach Mike Tullberg to work with his team on the training pitch and in test matches – and plenty of time for two newcomers to acclimatise in Dortmund.
Danylo Krevsun and Moussa Soumah were two new faces at the start of training. “We actually wanted to get the boys in the summer, but for various reasons we decided to sign them immediately,” explains coach Tullberg.
Both talents fall more into the category of perspective players instead of immediate help. The 17-year-old Krevnik comes from Ukraine and fled to Germany because of the war. He already trained with BVB in the summer. The central midfielder spent the first half of the season with league rivals Preußen Münster.
“We have followed his path, he has attracted positive attention in Münster,” Tullberg says of the youngster, who has scored four goals in seven appearances. “We have stayed in contact. And due to the fact that he lives in Dortmund and is an exciting player, we have now signed him.”
Krevnik, who was trained in the youth of Ukrainian top club Shakhtar Donetsk, is “a great footballer and a super character. He will do the group good,” Tullberg said. However, the coach also put the brakes on: “We have to wait and see how he develops over the next few months.”
Soumah, the second newcomer, could actually still play in the U17s, but will now already train in the oldest junior year. “Then he can get a head start until the summer,” says Tullberg.
The offensive player comes from the U17s of Arminia Bielefeld. For the surprise team of the B-Junioren Bundesliga (second place after the first half of the season), he scored six times in eleven appearances and also set up five goals.
Soumah comes from Guinea. At SC Melle, he had played himself into the focus of some professional NLZ. First, he moved to Bielefeld, and now he is to take the next step in Dortmund. Tullberg: “We were not the only club interested in him and are very happy that we were able to put together a package for him that includes housing, school and football. We are looking forward to working with him. “
