BVB win by double digits, Schalke stay top, VfL first, SGS and MSV play no games

Schalke face top women’s game, BVB win by double digits and VfL Bochum remain top without a game.

Bundesliga

The women’s Bundesliga season is not getting off the ground. Due to the European Championships, the season started later and then there was an international break. As a result, there have only been five match days so far, and no games were played this weekend either.

Next week, MSV Duisburg (last after five matchdays) will play RB Leipzig on Friday (18:30). SGS Essen, in seventh place, will play Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday (November 4, 2 p.m.).

Regionalliga West

After MSV and SGS, VfL Bochum also had a game off. This has not changed the constellation at the top: the VfL women are still in first place and are on course for Bundesliga 2.

However, their lead at the top of the table has shrunk by three points as runners-up Fortuna Köln won their match 2-0 against SSV Rhade. Bochum’s lead over Cologne and Bayer Leverkusen II in third place is therefore six points. Next Sunday (November 5, 3 p.m.), VfL will face penultimate-placed Vorwärts Spoho Köln.

Landesliga Westfalen 2

BVB were able to defend their lead in the table. They recorded a thumping 11-0 win against SV Hohenlimburg 1910. The Dortmund side are one point ahead of TV Brechten (6:0 at SpVg Berghofen II) and three points ahead of Borussia Dröschede (2:0 at SC Drolshagen). BVB coach Thomas Sulewski emphasized on the BVB homepage: “The team did everything we set out to do during the week: Showing enthusiasm for the game, not letting the opponent settle, creating lots of chances and scoring goals.”

Landesliga Westfalen 3

FC Schalke remain hot on the heels of the leaders. They recorded a 2:0 win against sixth-placed Grün-Weiß Nottuln. Chantal Schmitz and Celina Jürgens scored for the S04 women.

League leaders SV Borussia Emsdetten did not show any weakness. They recorded a narrow 2:1 victory at Turo Darfeld. Next Sunday (November 5, 12:30 p.m.) will be the top match. Emsdetten will then host Schalke with a one-point lead
