MSV Duisburg will have to do without a duo for the home game: The third division club confirmed on Friday that Vincent Müller and Marvin Bakalorz will be absent.
As recently as Thursday, the appearances of the established number one Vincent Müller and Marvin Bakalorz were still questionable. On Friday, MSV Duisburg then posted the sad certainty on social media: the duo did not take part in final training and will therefore be out for the home match against VfL Osnabrück.
“Both players are still questionable. Marvin Bakalorz trained fully with the team, but he has had few sessions with the team overall in recent weeks. We will wait for the next two days and decide on Friday whether he will be part of the squad. The situation is similar for Vincent Müller. So far, he has been able to do everything with the goalkeeper trainer without pain. We’ll give him an endurance test on Friday and then we’ll see if he can play in goal,” coach Torsten Ziegner explained at the press conference on Thursday.
As a result, Maximilian Braune will be the goalkeeper for the Meiderich side, as he was in the 3-1 defeat to Waldhof Mannheim last Monday. Ziegner had attested him a “stable game”.
Four Duisburg players face a yellow suspension
Joshua Bitter, who is serving a yellow-red suspension, and Benjamin Girth, who suffered a calf muscle injury against Mannheim and will be out for several weeks, are also definitely not playing. “That is a totally bitter loss. We have seen that he can be a factor in our game,” said coach Torsten Ziegner in the media round before the home match against Osnabrück on Saturday. In addition, Alaa Bakir and Vincent Gembalies are still missing.
Meanwhile, four Duisburg players are threatened with a yellow suspension: defender Sebastian Mai already has nine yellow cards to his name, Marvin Senger, Niclas Stierlin and Moritz Stoppelkamp currently have four yellow cards.
