Champions League: Arsenal want to get back to winning ways, Bayern want to win the group

In today’s Champions League match, Arsenal could already punch their ticket for the knockout phase. FC Bayern are on the verge of winning their group, while Union Berlin are still waiting for their first CL points.

Arsenal FC welcome Sevilla FC to the Emirates Stadium tonight in an important Champions League match.

Mikel Arteta’s side have recently suffered two defeats. After being knocked out of the League Cup at West Ham, Arsenal suffered their first defeat of the season in the league against Newcastle. Now they want to return to winning ways.

However, Arteta will be without attacker Gabriel Jesus, who scored in the last game against Sevilla to give them an interim 2-0 lead. Tomas Partey is also injured and Martin Ødegaard is doubtful.

Around two weeks ago, Sevilla suffered a 2-1 defeat against Arsenal despite scoring the equalizer. Under new coach Diego Alonso, things are still not going well for the Spaniards. They have recently drawn four games in a row in the league, including a point against Real Madrid.

Group B: Arsenal want a ticket to the knockout phase
Sevilla would need a win to keep their place in the Champions League group. However, they will probably have to plan without veteran defender Sergio Ramos, who is suffering from a muscle injury.

Arsenal, on the other hand, could secure a ticket to the knockout phase with a win in Group B. Should Lens win in Eindhoven in the parallel match, a defeat against Arsenal would make it almost impossible for Sevilla to progress.

Group A: Bayern on the brink of group victory
FC Bayern, meanwhile, can clinch top spot in Group A with a home win against Galatasaray Istanbul. In the first leg in Istanbul, the Munich side struggled against a Galatasaray side that was particularly strong in the first half and the roaring whistles of the home fans, but ultimately won 3-1.

Manchester United will also be hoping for a win against FC Bayern. Three points against Copenhagen would see them leapfrog Galatasaray into second place in the group, while Copenhagen would be level on points with the Turkish side in second place if they win.

Group C: Union finally want their first points
In Group C, Union Berlin will try to bring home the first Champions League points in the club’s history from Naples. Urs Fischer’s side are currently bottom of the table. In Berlin, after an incredible 12 defeats in a row across all competitions, the coach’s chair may be starting to shake. They recently lost 3-0 at home to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Real Madrid can secure their place in the knockout phase with a win against Braga and are currently in first place in the group with nine points out of nine.

Group D: Inter Milan and Real Sociedad could seal a place in the knockout phase
Benfica are still waiting for their first points in Group D. The Portuguese side have to face group leaders Real Sociedad.

Inter Milan are level on points with Real Sociedad in second place. A win against RB Salzburg would ensure the Italians progress, as would the Spaniards against Benfica
