At the end of the week, RevierSport had reported that the fan euphoria at Rot-Weiss Essen was continuing. At the weekend, RWE even stopped the sale of season tickets.
The fans of Rot-Weiss Essen continue to inspire those responsible for the third division club in the first days of the winter break. Season ticket sales are booming!
“We are 11,000! Rest round season ticket sales stopped”, the third division club announced on Saturday afternoon.
After selling close to 10,000 season tickets in the summer, a further 1,000 fans secured their Hafenstrasse regulars’ seats in a second sales phase lasting just over a week. As announced, season ticket sales have now ended with the home section reaching two-thirds capacity.
The 2023 programme includes the Ruhr derby against MSV Duisburg (Sun., 5 February, 2 p.m.), the traditional duels against VfL Osnabrück (14-15 March), Waldhof Mannheim (14-17 April) and 1860 Munich (12-15 May) at the Hafenstraße stadium.
Rot-Weiss Essen, with an average of 16,115 visitors per match, has the second-best attendance in the 3rd division. Only Dynamo Dresden (21,966 fans per game) welcomes even more fans at its home games.
