SV Scherpenberg was considered one of the favorites for the title in the Landesliga Group 2 in the Lower Rhine region. Currently, the Moers-based team has not won in five games.
They play well, but give away too many scoring chances and concede goals too easily – the result: only eleven points from nine games. This is how you could summarize SV Scherpenberg’s season so far.
Team manager Sven Schützek and coach Christian Mikolajczak need to put their heads together these days to end the five-game winless streak. After the 2-2 draw against Sportfreunde Lowick, the team will face 1. FC Lintfort in the derby next weekend – Sunday, October 13, 3 p.m.
“We are all dissatisfied at the moment, of course: the coach, the team, the management and the fans. But it was also clear to us that we might need more time after this major upheaval. This is now the case and we will continue to work in peace. Christian Mikolajczak is being given time to develop the team further. The performances are there, but the results are not,” says Schützek, describing the current situation.
In other words, there is no discussion about the coach at SV Scherpenberg. But of course, ex-professional Mikolajczak also knows the business inside out and knows that he has to deliver results.
We have a really good soccer team. They’re all lovely guys, too.
We are really well staffed in terms of soccer. They are all nice guys, too. I wish for a wanker! To put it bluntly. A real scumbag who makes a statement to the team even when the coach is not around. Because only good soccer players are not enough to be successful.

“We play a very good ball up to the sixteenth. But we also need 15 scoring chances for one to go in. On the other hand, we don’t do everything we can to defend our own goal. It’s too easy for the opponent to score. The first dangerous attack often comes from there,” explains the 43-year-old.
The former “fighting sow” Mikolajczak just wants someone on the team who will step in – on and off the pitch. “We are really well staffed in terms of football. They are all nice guys, too. I just want a wanker! To put it bluntly. A real scumbag who will give the team an order even without the coach. Because good footballers alone are not enough to be successful. We also need characters who have the winner gene in them,” emphasizes Mikolajczak.
The Scherpenberg coach also tried a change of goalkeeper recently. Martin Hauffe had to make way for Julian Geitz. But the zero just won’t stay at SVS. Scherpenberg only kept a clean sheet in the 2-0 wins against Speldorf and FC Kray.
“We are all dissatisfied with the table. The team is capable of much more, and it’s still intact. We’ll continue to work hard, try to address our weaknesses and go on the attack again. A derby like the one in Lintfort comes at the right time,” emphasizes Mikolajczak.
