There will be another personnel change at Spielclub 1920 Oberhausen shortly before Christmas. Thorsten Möllmann returns to the coaching chair.
SC 1920 Oberhausen has been waiting for a win since matchday 7. And yet: The club is still above the line in the Lower Rhine District League Group 5 with twelve points from 15 games.
Last weekend, they suffered a 3:1 defeat against top team VfB Bottrop. That was too much for those responsible at Mellinghofer Straße. Coach Murat Cebeci was relieved of his duties.
“SC 20 and the previous head coach Murat Cebeci have decided to go their separate ways by mutual agreement. The sporting downturn of recent weeks has forced the club to take action. And Murat himself is also of the opinion that the team needs a breath of fresh air,” according to a Facebook message from the Oberhausen club.
Cebeci had tried out many things and was very committed and passionate. But somehow he was unable to ignite the fire in the team around ex-professional Ümit Ertural. Now none other than Thorsten Möllmann, president of the club and coaching icon in Oberhausen amateur soccer, is set to do just that
“Murat has worked every day with heart and passion for our success and we are very grateful to him for that. But now it’s time to breathe new life into the team. Especially before the end of the year and the all-important six-point game against MTV Union Hamborn on Saturday. Only three points count here! President Thorsten Möllmann will be in charge of the team for this important game on Saturday. After that, the board will use the winter break to look at possible successors,” announced the SC 1920 Oberhausen board.
To date, SC 1920 has recorded three wins and three draws. Nine matches have been lost. The new year 2024 starts for the Möllmann club with an Oberhausen derby against newly promoted SuS 21, which will take place on February 18. Enough time for the as yet unknown new SC head coach to prepare the team properly for the rest of the season
