After the 0:7 lesson in Munich, VfL Bochum will face Borussia Mönchengladbach on the next matchday. We spoke to the VfL coach.
VfL Bochum lost 0:7 at FC Bayern Munich last matchday. On Saturday (30 September, 3.30 p.m.), everything should be better against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
We spoke to the VfL Bochum coach.
Thomas Letsch about…
… the 0:7 at Bayern: “If you want to have a chance to win against Bayern Munich, then you have to be at one hundred percent yourself. You have to manage that Bayern don’t reach one hundred percent because of the way the opponent plays. If they bring their performance, then you don’t stand a chance. We all had a good feeling before the game. But then it’s 1:0 for Bayern after a few minutes. Then you already think that it can be difficult. When the Bavarians get going and you have a bad day, that’s the result. That annoys us, but we have to look ahead. If we play a good game at the weekend, then nobody will talk about Bayern anymore.”
… the Gladbach game: “This is an important game, but not a trend-setting one. We have significantly more away games than home games in 2023. But we feel more comfortable at home. That’s clear. A success on Saturday would do us good. It would be nice if we get the treble. But it’s not like this game decides the outcome of the season or is a fateful game.”
… the Gladbach team: “They have a new coach and the team has also changed. They actually played like they did last season. In Darmstadt and against Leipzig it was different. They played in a 3-5-2 system. The question is whether Gladbach will go back to their old structure or play like they did against Leipzig. We have to prepare for everything. It will be a difficult game. Of course, Gladbach want to move up into completely different regions of the table.
… Striker Philipp Hofmann and his place on the bench in Munich: “The motivation was that we wanted to stress the opponent up front. And we have other players who are more active than Philipp. He was also not in the form of his life. That’s why we gave him a break. Philipp Hofmann is always an important player for us.”
