Julian Stöhr, coach of KFC Uerdingen, analyzes upcoming opponent ETB SW Essen, announces one starting lineup spot and demands a win from his team.
The Oberliga Niederrhein has a real traditional derby to offer on the sixth matchday. KFC Uerdingen welcomes ETB Schwarz-Weiß Essen to the Grotenburg on Saturday (September 20, 4 p.m.).
KFC head coach Julian Stöhr wants to build on a winning streak with a victory against ETB: “We simply want to keep up the momentum we’re slowly building.” The former ETB coach expects his opponents to play with a defensive back three: “I assume they will play with a back three because center back Maurice Haar will probably be back.”
Both teams have suffered 1-4 defeats against FC Büderich in the past two weeks. When asked about the differences between the two defeats, Stöhr jokes that ETB lost away and KFC lost at home, describing his former club’s defeat as a “black day.” “I don’t really know them like that,” he adds.
Offensive player and crowd favorite Alexander Lipinski will return to the KFC squad for the match against Schwarz-Weiß, as Stöhr confirms: “He has completed his first training session since the cup match against Biemenhorst on Thursday. He will be in the squad against ETB.”
The 35-year-old has already revealed the first starting lineup: “Jonas Holzum will be in goal as usual.” Etienne-Noel Reck, who had to be substituted due to injury in the match against SC St. Tönis, will also return to the squad.
Stöhr knows the black and white team well from his time at the Essen club: “Certain aspects of the players’ game haven’t changed. Striker Lukas Korytowski still makes his deep runs up front and is very fast. That’s clear. Nico Lucas can play very good balls and often drops back into the defensive line to do so. Ultimately, these are the types of players we’re dealing with, and we know their strengths accordingly.“ The coach doesn’t necessarily see his knowledge as an advantage: ”There has also been a shake-up at ETB. Of course, I know one or two of the players a little better. The new coach also has his own ideas, of course. I definitely don’t know the opponent 100 percent. Nevertheless, we have prepared well.”
