Cologne shock! Striker suffers cruciate ligament rupture – 10 absences against Nice.

Bitter news for 1. FC Köln. The Bundesliga club will have to do without one of its strikers for many months. Diagnosis: ruptured cruciate ligament.

The already injury-plagued Bundesliga team 1. FC Köln will now have to do without striker Florian Dietz for a long time.

The 24-year-old striker injured himself in the last minutes of the home match against Hoffenheim (1:1) and had to be substituted. On Monday afternoon, Dietz underwent an MRI examination in which a cruciate ligament injury was diagnosed.

Dietz, who has made eleven appearances and scored one goal in the Bundesliga so far, will undergo surgery by FC team doctor Dr. Peter Schäferhoff at the MediaPark Klinik as early as Wednesday and will not be available to FC for the next few months.

“First and foremost, I am very sorry for Flo. But he is a real fighter. He worked his way back with iron discipline after his first knee injury, but also after his serious shoulder injury. He will manage that this time as well, and we will support him on this way with everything we can do. It’s really bitter that we’ve lost the next player to an injury,” said FC head coach Steffen Baumgart.
