Concordia Wiemelhausen have played a flawless preparation so far. Coach Jens Grembowietz still wants to improve the switching behaviour before the start in the Westfalenliga 2.
For Concordia Wiemelhausen, the preparation for the new season in the Westfalenliga 2 is going according to plan. Four victories were achieved in four test matches. Coach Jens Grembowietz is extremely satisfied: “Our preparation was very successful, not only measured by the results. We worked very concentrated and focused. The workload was quite high for the players, and all the defensive work has paid off so far.”
Nevertheless, the 35-year-old still sees room for improvement: “Six weeks of preparation are not enough to get everything right. Until the season starts, I won’t be able to say that I’m happy as a clam and sit on the sidelines to enjoy the game. In the switching behaviour, both after losing the ball and after winning the ball, we can still optimise a few things.” He added, however, that this process need not be completed by the start of the season.
Cup is always something special. Maybe we’ll be lucky enough to play against a team from the very top for once.

Before the start of the league, the Wiemelhausen side will take on YEG Hassel in the first round of the Westfalenpokal. “Even though it’s a competitive match of course, it’s still part of the preparation for me. We will rotate so that game times are distributed. For us, it’s a super dress rehearsal. Against a league rival who will definitely be in the top third of the table, you can see what is already going well and what still needs to be worked on,” explains Grembowietz.
Nevertheless, he does not deny the importance of the game: “Of course we want to get into the next round. The cup is always something special. Maybe we’ll be lucky enough to play against a team from the very top.
On the first matchday, Wiemelhausen will play FC Lennestadt. Grembowietz expects a tough task: “Especially in Lennestadt it is always incredibly difficult. They benefit every year from their incredible home strength. We experienced it ourselves last year and ultimately lost the game.”
To avoid a repeat of that result, the coach wants to avoid passivity above all: “In the first game of the season, you never know exactly where you stand. We should not go into the game and wait too much. If we trust in our strengths, we can also take something countable from Lennestadt. “
