Rot-Weiss Essen has found the perfect response to the defeat in Rostock. We discuss the new RWE defense, Uhlig’s move to RWO, and the upcoming match in Aue.
Rot-Weiss Essen has turned things around after slipping into a relegation spot in the 3rd league and beat Energie Cottbus 4-0 in front of over 17,000 spectators.
The completely changed tactical approach of coach Christoph Dabrowski was particularly striking, as the focus on safety overshadowed everything else on Saturday.
The tactical move surprised not only the spectators, but also the opponents from Cottbus, who couldn’t find a way past the RWE defense. In the end, RWE celebrated – but this victory can only be the beginning.
Shortly before the game, a report was published stating that long-time RWE boss Marcus Uhlig, who only left RWE in May 2024, was set to join Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. This has since been confirmed, with Uhlig initially supporting RWO as an advisor for three months, after which he could become the new president of the Kleeblätter.
In the Westkurve, a tasteless poster was displayed against Uhlig, although this does not represent all fans. Our survey shows that many fans have sympathy for Uhlig.
We will be discussing all these topics and the upcoming game in Aue in our RWE Talk “Vonne Hafenstraße – Inside RWE” with host Kira Alex, RWE reporter Martin Herms, and forecasting editor Christian Brausch.
Enjoy.
