Cottbus gala after coaching rethink, fans divided after Uhlig moves to RWO

Rot-Weiss Essen has found the perfect answer to the thrashing in Rostock. We talk about the new RWE bar, the Uhlig move to RWO and the upcoming game in Aue.

After slipping into a relegation spot in the 3rd division, Rot-Weiss Essen turned things around and beat Energie Cottbus 4-0 in front of over 17,000 spectators.

Above all, the completely changed tactical approach of coach Christoph Dabrowski was striking, because the issue of safety outshone everything this Saturday.

The tactical move surprised not only the spectators, but also the opponents from Cottbus, who could not do anything with the RWE defense. So in the end, RWE celebrated – but this victory can only be the beginning.

Shortly before the game, a report was published that RWE’s long-standing boss Marcus Uhlig, who only left RWE in May 2024, is to join Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. This has since been confirmed: Uhlig will initially support RWO as a consultant for three months, after which he could become the new president of the club.

In response, a tasteless poster against Uhlig was displayed in the west stand, although this does not represent all fans. Our survey shows that many fans understand Uhlig’s position.

We discuss all these topics and the upcoming game in Aue in our RWE talk “Vonne Hafenstraße – Inside RWE” with moderator Kira Alex, RWE reporter Martin Herms and forecasting editor Christian Brausch.

Enjoy.
