Yoga with cute puppies is a balm for body and soul and a new trend from the Anglo-Saxon world that could make it big in 2023.
Honestly, who can resist the sight? Supposedly, contact with animals enhances the beneficial effects of yoga exercises. Staying on task when little canine paws traipse across the mat is quite a challenge, though, yoga instructor Tyler Whitworth confirms.
“It’s hard to concentrate because they are obviously so cute that you just can’t take your eyes off them. But when they start nibbling or climbing on you, it’s a bit exhausting sometimes. Still, it’s a wonderful exercise in taking care of yourself more than anything else. And on the whole, it’s fun and games more than anything else.”
“Puppy Yoga” classes came up in Liverpool last April, and are now also available in Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham.
The organisers work with local dog breeders who use them to gently socialise their puppies – and spot potential new owners.
There are a striking number of well-made-up yoga newcomers. Most actually come just for the puppies, as Jenna McLean, a participant in a puppy yoga class in Manchester confirms.
“I do like yoga, and the stretches are great. But I don’t normally do anything like that. Here there are puppies, so that’s the incentive.”
Viviana Watson, another young woman with puppies in her arms confirms, “They’re just so cute. And I feel really energised now. “
A yoga class with puppies costs just under £30. Kind of like therapy – with nice souvenir photos for the Instagram account.
The social media aspect of Puppy Yoga should not be underestimated. Cute dog photos spread quickly via Instagram and Tik Tok. Most participants confirm that they found out about Puppy Yoga via social media. And of course, each one takes a lot of photos and shares them …
