The Cranger Kirmes Cup in Herne is in full swing. After two of three group matches, the first semi-final places in the traditional tournament have already been allocated.
The 22nd edition of the Cranger-Kirmes-Cup in Herne is entering the decisive matches. Among others, defending champions DSC Wanne-Eickel are in the running for the tournament, which is organised by SV Sodingen. Unlike in previous editions, Westfalia Herne is skipping the traditional tournament this year. Two of the three group matches were played last week.
In Group A, it is already clear that SV Sodingen and DSC Wanne-Eickel have made it into the semi-finals. DSC beat SV Wanne 11 2:0 in their opening match. Sportfreunde Wanne-Eickel also had no chance against DSC and were beaten 1:3. The host SV Sodingen also won the first group matches. With a 4:2 win against Sportfreunde Wanne-Eickel and a dominant performance against SV Wanne 11 (4:0), the Spielvereinigung left no doubt about a semi-final participation. The group winners will be played on Tuesday at 5.45 pm.
The standings in Group B, on the other hand, are not so clear before the last matchday. Schwarz-Weiß Wattenscheid 08 have lost both games so far. Against YEG Hassel, the Wattenscheid team lost 3:5. Also after the match against SpVgg Erkenschwick (0:3), the team of coach Christian Möller is without points on its account. This means that reaching the semi-finals is no longer possible for the Wattenscheid side.
Three teams in Group B are fighting for a place in the semi-finals
On Tuesday evening, the winner of the duel between SpVgg Erkenschwick and YEG Hassel can clinch the group victory. If no winner can be determined after 90 minutes, there may be a three-way tie with Lüner SV, provided they win their match against Wattenscheid. The Lüners only played for draws against both Erkenschwick (1:1) and Hassel (0:0). From the point of view of coach Axel Schmeing’s team, the match against Wattenscheid must be won in order to have a chance of reaching the semi-finals.
The semi-final matches will be played next Friday. Both the match for third place and the grand final will take place on Sunday. RevierSport will be on site for the finals, so the games can be followed in the live ticker.
