SV Rödinghausen is the disappointment of the first half of the season. The East Westphalians were temporarily in first place, but now they have hardly any realistic chance of promotion.
Carsten Rump on…
… the first half of the season in the Regionalliga West: “The first few match days were very, very good. After the 13th matchday, we were in first place. On matchday 10, Julian Wolff tore his cruciate ligament and Niklas Wiemann tore his lateral ligament. Before that, we had to replace Mirko Schuster. We somehow managed that. But when three cornerstones went down, we felt the effects. On top of that, Jonathan Riemer and Tiago Estevao were given red cards. In the meantime, we played without seven people who are nominal regulars. We noticed that they were missing. Nevertheless, the people who were there gave their best. Often small things decided the game and mostly against us. Until the last third, it often looked very good. But the effectiveness was missing. But I don’t blame the boys. They always fought, always came back. But clearly: we slipped from first place and that is a bit annoying.”
… personnel changes in the winter break: “As of now, we have no plans. But clearly: we are also keeping our eyes and ears open and will see if something makes sense or less sense.”
… the goals for 2023: “I just hope that most of our guys stay healthy and intact. Then, of course, we want to work on effectiveness. That’s a process that will never be finished. We’ve had games, like in Cologne, where we give up 17 shots on goal and don’t score. We want to change that.”
… the preparation: “Our preparation start is scheduled for 4 January. We will play our first test match at Landesliga team Rot-Weiss Kirchlengern (8 January, 2pm). Then on 14 January (2 p.m.) we will play the U23 team of Hannover 96. And on 28 January, the venue and time are not yet fixed, against SV Lippstadt. “
