Crazy 4-4 draw in Wiemelhausen, ASC Dortmund wins top match

There were plenty of goals on the 16th matchday of the Oberliga Westfalen: in Bochum-Wiemelhausen alone, spectators saw eight goals.

The 16th matchday of the Oberliga Westfalen had some interesting fixtures to offer: In addition to VfL Bochum II’s 3-0 derby win against SG Wattenscheid 09, there was also the top match between ASC Dortmund and 1. FC Gievenbeck, as well as the first game for Wiemelhausen interim coach Jürgen Heipertz.

In the top match between ASC Dortmund and 1. FC Gievenbeck, who were level on points and eyeing promotion before the game, the hosts from Dortmund prevailed 3-2. The home team was already leading 3-1 at half-time. Although the visitors from Münster reduced the deficit to 3-2, the goal in stoppage time was only a consolation. ASC Dortmund deserved the win and remains in contention for promotion.

The 2-2 draw between Victoria Clarholz and Rot Weiss Ahlen does neither team any real good. After Clarholz turned the game around, Ahlen was lucky to equalize in stoppage time through Marvin Pourié.

Spectators at Concordia Wiemelhausen on Glücksburger Straße experienced an emotional rollercoaster ride. The first game under interim coach Jürgen Heipertz was a thriller: Kevin Schacht scored twice to give the visitors from Schermbeck a 2-0 lead at half-time, before the goal fest began in the second half. Wiemelhausen equalized within a few minutes through Burak Yerli and Pascal Zippel (46th, 54th), before Schermbeck responded with a double strike from Eren Özat and Timur Karagülmez (60th, 63rd) to take a two-goal lead once again.

The stage was set for an away win, but a goal from substitute Atakan Uzunbas (83) reignited the home side’s hopes. The madness continued, with Fatih Öztürk scoring the dramatic equalizer in stoppage time to make it 4-4.

SpVgg Vreden and Eintracht Rheine remained pointless at home. Vreden lost 0-2 to SC Verl II, who are now knocking on the door of the promotion places. Eintracht Rheine lost their home game against Westfalia Ryhnern 1-2.

SV Lippstadt secured an unchallenged away win at SG Finnentrop/Bamenohl, who are slowly losing touch with the more relaxed regions of the table. Joel Amadi (34th minute), Maximilian Franke (69th minute), and substitute David Dören (79th minute) scored in the 3-0 away win.

Due to the onset of winter, the match between Sportfreunde Siegen and SpVgg Erkenschwick was canceled, as was the match between TuS Ennepetal and Preußen Münster II. Bottom-placed Bövinghausen had a bye.
