The 16th matchday of the Oberliga Westfalen had some interesting pairings to offer: in addition to the 3-0 derby victory of VfL Bochum II against SG Wattenscheid 09, the top game between ASC Dortmund and 1. FC Gievenbeck was also on the program, along with the first game of Wiemelhausen interim coach Jürgen Heipertz.

In the top game between ASC Dortmund and 1. FC Gievenbeck, who were level on points with the promotion places before the game, the hosts from Dortmund came out on top with a 3-2 victory. The home team were already 3-1 up at half-time. Although the visitors from Münster reduced the deficit to 3-2, the goal in injury time only served to improve their result. ASC Dortmund earned the win and remain in contention for a promotion spot.

The 2-2 draw between Victoria Clarholz and Rot Weiss Ahlen did neither team any good. After Clarholz turned the game around, Ahlen was lucky to equalize through Marvin Pourié in injury time.

The spectators at Glücksburger Straße experienced an emotional rollercoaster ride at Concordia Wiemelhausen. The first game under interim coach Jürgen Heipertz was a tough one: Kevin Schacht scored twice to put the guests from Schermbeck 2-0 up at half-time, before the goal festival in the second half got under way. Wiemelhausen equalized within a few minutes through Burak Yerli and Pascal Zippel (46th, 54th), before Schermbeck also responded with a double from Eren Özat and Timur Karagülmez (60th, 63rd) to retake a two-goal lead.

The course was set for an away win – but a goal from substitute Atakan Uzunbas (83′) sparked renewed hope in the home team. The madness continued: in injury time, Fatih Öztürk scored the celebrated 4-4 equalizer.

SpVgg Vreden and Eintracht Rheine remain without points at home. Vreden lost 0-2 against SC Verl II, who are now knocking on the promotion doors. Eintracht Rheine lost their home game against Westfalia Ryhnern 1-2.

SV Lippstadt secured an unchallenged away win at SG Finnentrop/Bamenohl, who are slowly losing touch with the more relaxed regions of the table. Joel Amadi (34′), Maximilian Franke (69′) and substitute David Dören (79′) scored in the 3-0 away win.

Due to the onset of winter, the game between Sportfreunde Siegen and SpVgg Erkenschwick was canceled, as was the game between TuS Ennepetal and Preußen Münster II. Bottom-of-the-table Bövinghausen had a game-free weekend.
