Three games were scheduled in the 2nd Bundesliga on Sunday. 1. FC Kaiserslautern and SV Darmstadt delivered a spectacle.
SV Darmstadt missed the possible jump to third place in the 2nd Bundesliga. Coach Torsten Lieberknecht’s team had to settle for a 3-3 draw with promoted 1. FC Kaiserslautern on Sunday despite leading 2:0 in the meantime. As a result, the gap to the two direct promotion places occupied by SC Paderborn and Hamburger SV grew to four and three points respectively. After an impressive final phase with goals from Kenny Redondo (74./87.) and Mike Wunderlich (77./foul penalty), Kaiserslautern even seemed to be close to a victory before Aaron Seydel scored the equaliser in injury time.
For FC St. Pauli, the wait for a win continues for the time being. In a 1-1 (1-0) draw against SV Sandhausen, the Hamburg side remained without a win for the fourth time in a row. The only win in a Sunday match came from 1. FC Magdeburg. Thanks to a late goal by Moritz Kwarteng (86th), they beat SpVgg Greuther Fürth 2-1 (1-0) and thus jumped up to 15th place.
