SpVgg Steele 03/09 could be the beneficiary of the next matchday. The direct competition plays against each other. The only thing missing is their own homework.
The relegation battle in the Landesliga Staffel 2 is extremely tight. The teams just above and below the line march in lockstep from matchday to matchday. This could change for SpVgg Steele 03/09.
Next weekend, two of Steele’s direct rivals will face each other. 1. FC Lintfort, who occupy the first relegation spot, will host SG Essen-Schönebeck, who are in the relegation zone. Just behind them, Spielvereinigung will be waiting for the two to slip up. Perfect timing that these two are now taking points from each other.
Dirk Möllensiep’s side have done their homework in the recent past. Steele recently won against SV Hönnepel-Niedermörmter (1:0) and also against ESC Rellinghausen (3:2).
“It was super important to stay in the game. The winning goal against Rellinghausen was particularly good. That’s why we’re in a good mood so far,” explained Möllensiep.
During the week, Steele lost 3-0 to DJK SF Katernberg in the district cup – a setback for the Spielvereinigung that taught them a lesson, says Möllensiep: “The game showed us how we shouldn’t play. We have to have the mentality in every game and score points – no matter how. “
This will show us where the journey is going. It’s certainly a crucial game for us.

The next points for Spielvereinigung Steele should come from the match against SV Scherpenberg. Scherpenberg have had their problems in the past against teams from the bottom third of the table. Lintfort, Schönebeck and SV Hö-Ni all picked up three points from their meeting with the ninth-placed team. A good omen?
“We definitely want to take something with us and annoy Scherpenberg. We have to be there in the duels and take the fun out of soccer for them. Then we’ll have a chance,” says the Steele coach.
In the English week, Steele will face 1. FC Lintfort – a real basement duel. Möllensiep: “That will show us where we’re heading. It’s certainly a crucial game for us. “
